Requirements To Adopt A Greyhound

**Adopters must have a completely fenced yard or dog run. Invisible fences are not acceptable.

**Adopters understand that greyhounds are house dogs and family members. They are not to be kept outside or shut away from the family inside the house.

**Adopters understand that retired racing greyhounds MUST BE KEPT ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES unless in a controlled situation such as their home or a fully fenced area.

**Adopters understand that for the first few weeks, the Greyhound needs to be let out halfway through the day if the family is away from home all day.

**Adopters must understand that it takes three months on average for the dog to be totally settled into its new home and routine, and must be willing to be patient with the dog for this period.

Once you have been pre-approved for adoption by a GPAGNW representative they will work diligently to help you choose the right Greyhound for your lifestyle and family, as well as offer continued support once a Greyhound has been placed into your home. Our adoption forms are available through the link below. Adobe Acrobat reader 5.0 or higher is required to open the forms, please save it to your hard drive and print it out (you may also open the forms online to print out) to give to an adoption rep closest to your area. NOTE: Please hit your back button to return to this page. If you are unable to open the documents, please call our 800 phone number or email one of our contacts through the contact page and the forms will be mailed to you.
